Eileen R. Sonk Age 84, longtime resident of Northville, passed away peacefully December 28, 2014. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 17, 1930; daughter of Thomas and Marguerite (nee Lynch) Roddy. Eileen was united in marriage to Stanley F. Sonk on August 17, 1952; they spent 62 loving years together. Eileen was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was also a member of Questers and Northville Women's Club. She was a caring friend, who's warm heart extended kindness to people and animals alike. Eileen was a people person; always able to start up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She was a really good golfer who enjoyed her membership at Washtenaw Country Club. She enjoyed skiing, boating, knitting, cooking and shopping. Eileen travelled the world, visiting places like Russia, Caribbean, Europe, England, and Ireland. Among her favorite places to visit was "her beach" at their condo in Florida or their cottage Up North. She also loved visiting Disney World and taking cruises. She liked the finer things in life such a dressing up, jewelry, and her collections of fine china and glassware. Eileen was a devoted homemaker and an amazing mother and grandmother. Eileen is survived by her loving husband, Stanley F. Sonk; her children, Hugh Sonk, Patti VanHeyde, Tom (Michele) Sonk, and Julie Sonk; and her grandchildren, Brandon (Jaime Becharas) VanHeyde and Michael Sonk. She was preceded in death by her parents; her identical twin sister, Maureen Roddy; and her brothers, Leo Roddy, Hugh Roddy, and David Roddy. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., she will be in state beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville, MI. Mrs. Sonk will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Rd., Ste. 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
