Thomas J. Downey

Thomas J. Downey Age 77, of Northville, passed away January 14, 2015. He was born June 18, 1937 in Lima, Ohio; son of Thomas A. and Amy J. (nee Mauer) Downey. Thomas attended St. John's Catholic Elementary and High School in Lima, Ohio, following graduation he attended University of Detroit. He worked as a computer systems analyst programming software and consulting; he worked for various companies including Ford, BCBS, and Meijer. Thomas was a member of the Players Theater Group in Detroit for many years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Detroit sports fan; he had a particular love for the Detroit Tigers. His taste was simple; he loved cheap cigars, a hot cup of coffee and a glass of scotch every once in a while. Thomas, a history buff, was a great sketch artist; he had a terrific eye for art. He was a peaceful soul who occasionally had a fiery disposition. He cherished his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his children, Tom (Lisa) Downey of Northville, Stephen (Lisa) Downey of Northbrook, IL, Anne Marie (Patrick) Feerick of Glenview, IL, and Meghan Downey of Bloomfield Township; his siblings, Julie Joseph, Sheila (Sam) Sarkisian, and Michael Downey; and his grandchildren, T.J. Downey, Patrick Downey, Conor Downey, Zachary Downey, Katherine Feerick, Mary Feerick, Allie Feerick, Ellie Downey, Piper Downey, and Macrae Downey. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2-8pm, with a Tribute service beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a Rosary service beginning at 7p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville.
