Don Confer was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 6, 1943 and grew up in the Rosedale Park community. Don graduated from Redford High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree in business administration after completing studies at Central Michigan University and then Detroit Institute of Technology in 1965. His early career path in business led him to positions at Kelly Services, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. He added expertise in sales to his portfolio and worked for some of the largest providers of cemetery and funeral services in the United States at their locations in Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, and finally the greater Cincinnati Ohio area. Don also answered a call into Christian ministry in 1984 and completed studies at bible college and was ordained. He helped many people over the years who sought him for counsel during life challenges, and provided caring service to families who were grieving. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother to his worldwide Christian family, and one who cherished the bonds of friendship with so many from childhood into recent years. Don passed away on January 13, 2015 while at a hospital for care of a heart condition. Greatly and dearly loved, he will be greatly missed. The visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Mr. Confer will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
