Susan M. Bishop

Susan Mary Bishop Age 77, a resident of Hartland since 1978, passed away peacefully January 20, 2015. She was born October 27, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Ernst Julius and Anna Margaret (nee Broome) Sommerman. She was a 1955 graduate of Bentley High School in Livonia. Susan was united in marriage to Daniel Bishop on January 26, 1957; celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary this month. She was very devoted to her job as a medical secretary at the Northville State Hospital; she worked there for over 30 years. Susan loved to golf and enjoyed going to the gym. She was an avid reader, spy novels were her favorite. Believing she was royalty, she was very interested in her genealogy. She was a hockey fan and enjoyed watching her sons and grandson play hockey. Susan was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Daniel; her children, Robert (Suzan) Bishop, Laura (John) Dallacqua, Paula (Michael) LaFleur, and John (Sonya) Bishop; her siblings, Walter Sommerman, George (Lou) Sommerman, Margaret (Robert) Subr, Jenny (John) Chalmers, and R. Daniel (Madeline) Sommerman; her grandchildren, Kristy (Jeff) Zubke, Courtney Bishop, Zachary Bishop, Lisa (Tom Gouterman) Dallacqua, Katherine Dallacqua, Elizabeth Dallacqua, Paula Dallacqua, Matthew LaFleur, Danielle (Jordan) Ronketto, Stanley Bishop, and Jazmin Bishop; and her great grandson Taylor Zubke. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce Currin, and her brother Edward Sommerman. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 2-8pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 30, 2015 at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard, Northville.
