Gerald L. Vannoord

Gerald L. VanNoord Age 68, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on January 26, 2015. He was born January 12, 1947 in Zeeland, MI; son of Gelmer and Elaine (nee VanOort) VanNoord. Jerry was united in marriage to Ellen G. Meengs on August 8, 1969; they spent 45 loving years together. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1970 with a B.A. in Business. Jerry worked for many years as a Truck Advertising Manager with the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. Jerry was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi; a business fraternity at Western Michigan University. He had a passion for cars, especially Corvettes and Camaros. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Beaver Island; he also enjoyed snowmobiling and boating. He liked to spend time with friends, going to dinner and playing cards. Spending time with his grandchildren and family was the most important aspect of his life. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Ellen G. VanNoord; his children, Kari (John) Bessonen and Kevin (Evi) VanNoord; his grandchildren, Niko VanNoord, Kyle Bessonen, and Kaitlyn Bessonen; and his brother, Rod VanNoord. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 6 Mile Rd., Northville.
