Charles H.W. Toussaint

December 21, 1930 — March 16, 2015

Charles H.W. Toussaint Age 84, a lifelong resident of Northville, passed away peacefully March 16, 2015. He was born December 21, 1930 at his family home in Northville, Michigan; son of Henry and Rose (nee Lillich) Toussaint. He was the Assistant Treasurer for Blue Cross Blue Shield. After retirement he worked for Northville Downs and was also the Treasurer of Dehoco. Charles was always business and goal oriented. Charles loved to play cards; especially pinochle, poker and euchre. He loved to travel either alone, with his sister or with the Worldwide Church of God. During one of his foreign travels he met Queen Noor of Jordan. Charles also enjoyed photography and videography. A true animal lover, Charles rescued and trained many animals. He was very proud of his German heritage and learned to speak German so he could communicate with his relatives he found through his genealogy research. In the 1960's Charles started a cemetery on the land where his German forefathers settled in Sterling Heights. Charles was a very kind and generous man who anonymously delivered food to families in need during the holidays. He enjoyed cars, had a great sense of humor and appreciated a good joke. He was always a protective caring support system to his sister and his nieces. Family and community was the most important aspect of his life. He will be extremely missed. Charles is survived by his sister Joan Noonan; his niece Michele Harris; and his great nieces Stephanie Harris and Samantha Harris. Also survived by Rhonda Wildy, Donna Kellow, and Valerie Lightfoot. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Herman Toussaint and his sister Arlene Camarigg. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Following the funeral service he will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Salvation Army, 9451 South Main Street, Plymouth, MI 48170 or the Humane Society of Huron Valley, 3100 Cherry Hill Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
