Robert E. Pierson Age 93, longtime resident of Northville, passed away peacefully March 20, 2015. He was born October 25, 1921 in Garden City, Michigan; son of Harry and Mary Jane (nee Bennette) Pierson. Robert was united in marriage to Jeanette Tellia on June 28, 1941; they spent 69 loving years together until her death in 2010. He proudly served his country with the Army 1263rd Engineer Battalion during WWII. An electrician by trade, Robert retired as the Superintendent of Skilled Trades after 38 years at General Motors Willow Run. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Victory, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of Monsignor Hunt Council Knights of Columbus in Dearborn Heights and a life member of VFW Post 4012 in Northville. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed traveling; whether it was spending time Up North, traveling with neighbors, or visiting Mackinac with the Knights of Columbus. After retiring he spent time volunteering and feeding the poor at Capuchins Soup Kitchen in Detroit. He was always tinkering with something; he could fix anything and everything. Robert loved his family and cherished they time they spent together, especially if it was time spent with his beloved wife. Robert is survived by his loving children, Karon Filiatraut, Robert (Joan) Pierson, Jerry (Faye) Pierson, Kathy (Ron) Tupa, Paul (Darlene) Pierson, Merrie Kelly, Debora Pierson, Barbara (Timothy) Dunn, and Machille (Dave) Goss; his sister, Mary Ellen Richardson; 27 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and expecting twin great great grandchildren any day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Pierson; his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a VFW Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., in state beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville. Following the Mass, Mr. Pierson will be laid to rest next to his wife at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi where military honors will be rendered.
