Shirley J. Lucas

Shirley J. Lucas Age 66, longtime resident of South Lyon, passed away peacefully Saturday March 21, 2015 surrounded by family and friends after suffering a massive heart attack one week prior. She was born on April 19, 1948 in Detroit, MI daughter of William and Phyllis (nee Callahan) Potter. She was united in marriage to Kirk L. Lucas on September 29, 1979. Shirley worked at Bartlett Elementary School for 20 years and was known by many in the community as "Miss Shirley". The most important aspect of her life was her children; she was like a second mother to many. Shirley touched the life of everyone she met with her outgoing personality and sense of humor. She made special and brightened the life of everyone she touched. Shirley is survived by her loving husband Kirk; her children Sean (Celeste Short) Lucas and Emmy (Donny) Lucas; her sister Mary Jane (Manly) Hyde; her nieces Elizabeth and Mary Cate Hyde; and her grandchildren Raygina and Caezar. A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, March 26 from 4pm until 9pm in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church of South Lyon, 205 East Lake Street, South Lyon.
