Irene J. Mackinnon

Irene J. MacKinnon Irene J. MacKinnon, age 92, of Northville, passed away peacefully June 17, 2015. She was born July 1, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Daniel and Julia (nee Strale) McHenry. She was united in marriage to Donald MacKinnon for many loving years until his death in 2012. She raised her family in Farmington Hills; she was also a resident of Florida and Northville for many years. Irene was a homemaker and also taught sewing at the Farmington Community Center. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville. Irene was very giving and loving. She enjoyed the time she spent volunteering for both hospice and the American Cancer Society. Irene loved to cook; her food was so delicious she shared her recipes in a cookbook she authored. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. Irene is survived by her loving children, Julie (Dr. George) Magulak, Mary Beth (Dr. Keith) Verner, and Tom MacKinnon; her grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) MacKinnon, Ann Marie (Brian) Willett, Meredith Magulak, Kristyn Magulak, Ian (Shannon) MacKinnon, Kenny (Sarah) MacKinnon, Keith (April) Verner, Emily Verner, and Daniel MacKinnon; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sons, Bob MacKinnon and Richard MacKinnon. Visitation will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., in state 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville. Mrs. MacKinnon will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield. Memorial contributions to Lourdes Senior Community, 2300 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, MI 48328 would be appreciated.
