Nancy Lee Oliver Nancy L. Oliver, age 82, longtime resident of Northville, passed away peacefully June 24, 2015. She was born March 15, 1933 in Bellaire, Ohio, to Darrell and Katherine (nee McClain) Beveridge. While in school she was always an honor student and was captain of the basketball team. Nan received a Bachelor of Arts from Bethany College in West Virginia, graduating with a double major in Biology and Physical Education. She was an employee with Northville Public Schools for many years; most of her career was spent as the secretary to the Principal of Northville High School. Nan was a member of First United Methodist Church in Northville. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing in multiple groups in Northville. She also enjoyed music. Nan, a supporter of the Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund International, traveled to Africa on a three week safari and gorilla trek. One of her favorite places to visit and spend time was Leelanau Peninsula. She loved dogs; one of her hobbies included trimming dogs for the Westminster Dog Show. She always had a positive attitude, a wonderful sense of humor, and a dry wit. Nan had a great sense of adventure and was always willing to try new things. She cherished the time she spent with her family and her experiences with them were always grand; she appreciated each day as a true blessing. Her daughters describe her as a kind, compassionate, patient, fun, strong, confident, optimistic, intelligent woman who had high standards and did everything well. Nan is survived by her loving daughters, Lynne (Greg) Gochanour, Leslie (Scott) Stoner, and Lauren (Scott) Dayton; and her grandchildren, Cooper, Cameron, Colin, Kyle, Amanda, and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Kady. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. with a time of gathering beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Rev. Monica William from First United Methodist Church of Northville will officiate the service. Ms. Oliver will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
