Marie Theresa Rice

Marie T. Rice Age 97, of Novi, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2015. She was born May 7, 1918 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; daughter of Paul and Amelia (nee Abrash) Peters. Marie was united in marriage to Joseph J. Rice on June 23, 1938; they spent 48 loving years together until his death on March 12, 1986. She was a wonderful homemaker and fantastic cook and baker. Marie was a master knitter and was very talented at crocheting. She began her knitting hobby when she was a young girl. She often made lap blankets for veterans, clothing and other items for orphans. She also enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden. Marie is survived by her children, Jim (Connie) Rice, Leo (Jeannine) Rice, Lorraine (the late Mike) Devlin, Patricia (the late John) Cicotte, and Mike (Catherine) Rice; her siblings Gladys Hebert, Tony Peters, and Louis (Madaleine) Peters; her grandchildren, Joe (Natalie) Rice, Philip (Kristin) Rice, Susan (Geoff) Molchan, Teri (Dan) Mastrovito, Christina Rice, Cynthia (Andy) Kantor, Tara (Pete) Bardallis, Colleen (Blake) Roe, Heather (Jim) Golen, Christopher (Dawn) Cicotte, Adam Cicotte, Zacchary Rice and Aidan Rice; and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 11 brothers and sisters. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 N. Haggerty Road, Plymouth, MI. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2:30pm at Rural Hill Cemetery, 100 Rural Hill Street, Northville, MI. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to a charity of the giver's choice.
