Eugene W. Cole

August 2, 1923 — July 18, 2015

Eugene Wendell Cole, age 91, of Novi, passed away on July 18, 2015. He was born on August 2, 1923 in Union City, Indiana; son of Ralph Wesley Cole and Reba Edith Birum. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Klinko on April 23, 1956; celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary this past April. Eugene proudly served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II alongside his mother Reba who served in the Women's Army Corps. Eugene graduated from Northville High School; class of 1942. He has lived in Novi for the past 11 years; he was previously of Sterling Heights. He worked in the quality control department for LVT Steel Company for many years until he retired. Eugene loved to garden; he looked forward to harvesting his fruits and vegetables. He enjoyed playing cards and board games. Eugene was a generous, confident, and outgoing man. His most important aspect of his life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and a very active and fun dad. Eugene is survived by his loving wife Particia; his daughters, Janet Cole, Joyce Lucas, and Judy (Vernon Hole) Cole; his grandchildren, Jeremy Jarinski, Shawn Jarinski, Brandon Hole, Jacob Hole, James Hole, Amy Lucas, and Kristin Lucas; and his great grandchildren Austin and Zachary Jarinski. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Curtis Cole. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 22 from 4-7pm with a memorial service beginning at 7pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
