Thelma Ellen Ronk , age 90, of White Lake, passed away peacefully August 13, 2015. She was born on August 31, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Dwite and Marion (nee Meyer) Grover. She graduated from Northville High School, class of 1942. Thelma was united in marriage to Cecil "Bill" Ronk in 1943 and they spent over 40 years together until his death in 1984. During World War II she worked at a bomber plant in of the war effort. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, formerly Christ of the Lakes Lutheran Church in White Lake. She was part of the Women's craft and Chat group at church; they made quilts for those in need. Thelma loved gardening and maintained all of the garden beds at church. During elections she worked as an official and received recognition for her efforts. She enjoyed fishing and being with her family. She was a very generous and selfless woman; always sharing what she had with those in need. She was an unconditional and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Ronald W. Ronk, Mary (Larry) Smithson, and Debra Ronk; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Stacy) Ronk, Shelly (Ronald) Williams, David (Chrissy) Royer, Karrie Dunn, Kelly (Danny) Poindexter, Kimberly (Steve) Smithson-Hart, and Nichole Smithson; and her great grandchildren, Gavin, Logan, Robbea, Morgan, Colton, Jacey, Ryan, J.J., Dustin, Danny, Kassandra, Hunter, Colton, Jesse, and Payton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5-8pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9101 Highland Road, White Lake. She will be laid to rest at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions would be appreciated to DreamPacks to help foster children in Oakland County. DreamPacks are duffle bags that can be purchased for foster children who are moving so during the transition they no longer have to put their belongings in trash bags.
