Milan R. George, Sr.

Milan R. George, Sr. Age 86, longtime resident of Northville, passed away on September 19, 2015. He was born May 7, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Damon and Oka (nee Castle) George. Milan graduated from Northville High School in 1946; he was Class President. He and his family have owned and operated "George Farms" in Northville since 1936. They began as a Dairy Farm, later becoming a Beef and Crop farm. There have been 5 generations of George's on the family farm. Milan was a very devoted and active member of Salem Bible Church. He served on many boards and held many positions at the church throughout the years, including; Board of Directors, Head of Missions Committee, Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, former leader of the Christian Service Brigade, Song Leader, and Board of Directors for Drive-In Ministries. He also served as the Past President of Detroit Rescue Mission Farm Board. Milan regularly visited Whitmore Lake Convalescent Home ministering to the residents. He enjoyed his collection of Mustangs and antique tractors, which were often driven in the Northville 4th of July Parade and the Salem Flag Day Parade. He is survived by his loving sons, Milan "Butch" (Teri) George, Jr. and Daniel L. George; his grandchildren, Kristina (Patrick) McCrany, Damon J. George, Milan T. George, and Kathryn A. George; and his great grandchildren, Milan, Marcus, Daisy, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Betera. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Salem Bible Church, 9481 W. 6 Mile Rd., Salem. Mr. George was laid to rest at Thayer Cemetery in Northville.
