Barry E. Keener, age 53, of Novi, passed away on November 16, 2015. He was born on December 23, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Fred and Gladys (nee Dora) Keener. He was united in marriage to Gail L. Shank on July 16, 1994; spending over 21 loving years as husband and wife. Barry was raised in Livonia and graduated in 1980 from Churchill High School. He was a handyman with a focus on home renovations, home construction, and plumbing. For over 20 years he and his wife owned and operated Patriot Repair. He was an active member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Walled Lake. Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed skeet shooting. He was a really good cook and shared his talent with his neighborhood friends and church family. Barry was known to make delicious soups and desserts. He liked to have fun and was very patriotic. Barry was a softhearted man who loved being with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Gail L. Keener; his parents Fred and Gladys Keener; his brothers Tim (Geri) Keener and Rodney (Yuko) Keener; his mother-in-law Myrna Shank; his brother-in-law Ronald (Miriam Clark) English; his sister-in-laws, Susan English, Beverly (Doug) Alcott, and Colleen (John) Ashby; and his nieces, Julia Keener, Ashley Alcott, and Melissa Alcott.Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 5-8pm. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Noon with visitation beginning at 11am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Rev. Dr. John Pavelko will officiate the service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
