Helmut WeberAge 95, of Plymouth, formerly of Grand Blanc, MI and Dunedin, FL, passed away on December 26, 2015. He was born October 13, 1920 in Ückendorf, Germany; son of Hermann and Ida (nee Stein) Weber. Helmut was united in marriage to Hildegard M. Eilert on November 25, 1950; they spent 62 loving years together until her death in 2013.In 1953, Helmut was sponsored by his brother-in-law to immigrate to the United States. Leaving his wife and young daughter in Germany, he came to Flint, MI to work at Chevrolet Manufacturing and find a place for them to live. Once established he brought his family to the United States; eventually settling in Grand Blanc, MI where they raised their family and lived for over 50 years. Helmut worked as a tool and die maker for General Motors, retiring after 30 years with the company. Following his retirement, he and his wife wintered in Dunedin, FL for over 20 years. They also travelled extensively throughout Europe, visiting Germany several times.Helmut was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc and had recently been registered at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth. He took great pride in taking care of his yard and his home. He enjoyed nice cars, woodworking, and general tinkering around his house. Helmut cherished the time he spent with family and friends; he enjoyed music, parties, playing cards, and talking politics. He was blessed with many close friends and extended family, but was especially proud of his granddaughters, all of whom will miss him dearly.Helmut is survived by his loving children, Barbara (Norman) Yoffee and Chris (Rhonda) Weber; and his granddaughters, Ashley Weber and Christa Weber. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.A funeral mass will be held, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 1:30 p.m., instate beginning 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth. Mr. Weber will be laid to rest next to his wife at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Mother and Unborn Baby Care, Inc.
