Myrna Jean Shank

Myrna J. Shank, age 85, of Northville passed away December 31, 2015. She was born September 22, 1930 in Livonia Township, Michigan; daughter of Lionel and Shirley (Baldwin) Mickens. Myrna was united in marriage to Bruce Shank on June 24, 1960; devoted to each other and their family for 55 years until his death on September 28, 2015.Myrna was an impeccable homemaker; she loved to cook, garden, and sew. She was very creative, talented, and had a great sense of humor. Myrna enjoyed decorating her home and making clothing and costumes for her children. She volunteered at St. Paul’s Lutheran School where her daughters attended. She loved birds, animals, and even critters like raccoons. She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Mariam) English, Susan English, Colleen (John) Ashby, Beverly (Douglas) Alcott, and Gail Keener; her twin sister Marilyn (Ken) Shute; her grandchildren, Ashley, Melissa, Rose, Robert, Theresa, Toby, and Jason; her great grandchildren, Jarrett, Lyndzay, Audrey, Camden, Kyle, Luke, and Jessalynn; and her great-great granddaughter Lily. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her first husband Ronald Ivan English, a police officer, who died suddenly, and her son-in-law Barry Keener.Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7 from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 8 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Rev. Gerald S. Hunter will officiate the service.
