Virginia Mae McLeanAge 91, passed away January 20, 2016 in Hitchcock, Texas. She was born March 27, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Bert and Dorothy Trumble. She married the love of her life Robert Krug in Columbia, South Carolina in 1943. She tragically lost her husband Robert at the age of 31, in 1955. She was left to raise their three small children alone. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Couri and son-in-law Edward Couri of League City, Texas; sons, Timothy Krug of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and Terry Krug and daughter-in-law Linda Krug of Bartlett, Illinois; and Brother Donald Trumble of Northville, Michigan. Grandchildren, Kelli Todaro and her husband, Michael Todaro of Spring, Texas, Shauna Couri of League City, Texas, and Christopher Couri of League City, Texas; one great grandchild, Emma Todaro. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; Robert Krug and Fred McLean and her sister Phyllis Binder.She met Fred McLean and married him in 1958 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Together they opened and operated “The Spinning Wheel Fabric Shop” in Northville, Michigan from 1961 until they sold it in 1972. They were very involved with the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce in Northville. Virginia came up with the idea of having a “Santa’s Workshop” located in downtown Northville in the 1960’s, she gathered Patti Playpal dolls and dressed them up as elves- beards, clothes, and all, and created an exciting experience for all the children of the town. Virginia and Fred retired and moved south to Bradenton, Florida in 1973. Fred passed away in 1995, in Palmetto, Florida. Virginia remained in Palmetto until 2009. At that time she moved to Texas to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Virginia was very creative and loved making things for people she loved. She spent many years creating a replica of her grandmother’s general store in miniature. Whatever she did, she did it very well. She also loved to laugh and be with her family; who meant the world to her.Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm with a service beginning at 7:30 pm, Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Crowder Funeral Home 851 FM 517 W and 646 Dickinson, Texas 77539Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1pm with a service beginning at 1:30pm in the Chapel (2nd building on the left as you enter the cemetery) of Roseland Park Cemetery (2nd building on the left as you enter the cemetery), 29001 Woodward Avenue, Berkley, Michigan. Pastor Thomas D. Ford with The Lakes Community Church in Walled Lake will officiate the service
