Roger S. MillerAge 94, a lifelong resident of Northville, passed away on February 19, 2016. He was born December 1, 1921 in Oakland Township, Michigan; son of Donald and Lillian (nee Chatfield) Miller. Roger proudly served in the United States Army during World War II where he was initially deployed to Africa and then to Italy. He was wounded while Para trouping into Italy and was sent to recover at a hospital in England. Following his recovery he served as a reserve Para trouper at Normandy. He received a Purple Heart Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Good Conduct Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars. Roger worked as a Correction Officer at the Detroit House of Corrections; he retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed listening to classical music and reading. He was also an avid Tiger Baseball fan. Roger is survived by his daughters, Celia (Curtis) Ellison and Shirley (Steve) Shane; his step-daughter, Barbara (Joseph) Kurzynski; his brother W. Linwood (Erika) Miller; his grandchildren, Sean (Stacie) Millichamp, Scott (fiancé Sonja Kassal) Millichamp, Genevieve (Patrick) O’Malley, Kelsey Burry, George Knight, and Graham Burry; and his great grandchildren, Hannah, Daniel, Sarah, Kate, Andrew, Lillian, and Winifred. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister. Private family services were held.
