Myrna J. Jenkins

Myrna J. Jenkins Age 76, longtime resident of Northville, passed away April 16, 2016.   She was born December 4, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Joseph and Lucille (nee Morgan) Layton. She was a graduate of Redford High School in Detroit; Class of 1958.  Myrna was united in marriage to Raymond Jenkins on March 25, 1961; they spent 55 loving years together.   Myrna, a homemaker, was a member of Legacy Church, which was formerly First Baptist Church of Novi and Orchard Hills.  She was a runner in high school; she was the fastest in her school and although it was discouraged by teachers she used to beat all the boys.  She loved jewelry and enjoyed working in her son’s jewelry business.  She travelled extensively throughout the world; her favorite destinations were China and Israel.  Myrna was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about new things.  She could often be found reading The Bible; she knew it from cover to cover.  Myrna is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Jenkins; her children, Jennifer (Howard) Sweet, Sandra Jenkins, and Raymond (Lisa) Jenkins II; her grandchildren, Tyler, Alyson, Ava, Shannon, Sean, Raymond, Noah, and Ricky; her siblings, Joseph (Sue) Layton, Mary Bauish, and Lucille Layton.  She was preceded in death by her parents. The visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Legacy Church (formerly First Baptist and Orchard Hills), 45301 W. 11 Mile Rd., Novi.  Mrs. Jenkins will be laid to rest at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens.
