Helen M. Klenczar Age 103, longtime resident of Northville, formerly of Detroit, passed away May 1, 2016. She was born March 26, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Biel) Zacny. Helen was united in marriage to Walter Klenczar on June 22, 1935; they spent 29 loving years together until his death in 1964. Helen was a devoted homemaker; she took wonderful care of her family. Following her husband’s death she joined the work force and had various jobs she enjoyed; among them she worked as a cook for a catering company and the Archdiocese of Detroit for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville. Helen was a great cook and baker; she was known to many as the “chocolate chip cookie lady”. She was a superb hostess; when guests visited they were always offered food or drink and never left empty handed. Helen did beautiful crocheting, knitting, and needlework. She enjoyed travelling with her family and later in life she would often go on senior trips. Helen was very kind and generous; she loved helping others and was a good listener. Helen is survived by her loving children, Joanne (Michael) Pozan, Daniel (Linda) Klenczar, and John (Terry) Klenczar; her grandchildren, Deborah Ledgerwood, Christina (John) Jobbe, Michael Pozan, Susan Crossley, Sarah Klenczar, Jeff (Kathleen) Klenczar, Mark (Melissa) Klenczar; great grandchildren, Tara, John, Tony, Michael, Danielle, Nicholas, Taylor, Marina, Samantha, Addison, Alex, Joey, and Lucas; and her great great grandchildren, Destiny and Demari. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her great great grandson Donate; 2 sisters and 1 brother. The visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., instate 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville. Ms. Klenczar will be laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
