Mary A. Cameron

Mary A. Cameron Mary A. Cameron, age 86, longtime resident of Northville, passed away June 18, 2016.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 27, 1929; daughter of Carmelo and Giovanna (nee Darmanin) Grech.  Mary was united in marriage on August 27, 1949 to Henry R. Cameron; and they spent 29 loving years together until his death on August 14, 1979. Mary was a devoted homemaker; she cherished the time spent taking care of her family.  Following her husband’s death Mary joined the workforce; working as a tour guide for Greenfield Village, as well as Hallmark and Kitchen Witch in downtown Northville.  For the past 17 years she has been a volunteer with Providence Park Hospital working the admissions desk. In 2013 she was awarded Volunteer of the Year for Providence Park.  Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.  She was a wonderful cook and always made the Maltese dish Pastizza for special occasions.  She was a talented seamstress and had her own business doing alterations.  Mary travelled extensively with her family; some of her favorite trips were a cruise, visiting Malta, and frequent trips to California to see extended family. Very social and active; she enjoyed going to dinner with friends.  Mary’s companion was her Sheltie Lucy, whom she loved very much.   She was very giving, and was always taking care of others.  Mary is survived by her loving children, Jane (Jim) Van Belle, Robert (Karen) Cameron, and John (Mary) Cameron; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Parimucha, Jillian (Kim) Van Belle, Ryan (Chelsea) Cameron, Brandon (Laura Kallil) Cameron, Brian (Emily Lavis) Cameron, and Jeffrey (Melanie Klett) Cameron; and her great grandchildren, Cole Parimucha, Carleen Parimucha, Katherine Van Belle, Andrew Van Belle, Carter Cameron, and Ryan Lavis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. The visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 10:00 a.m., in state 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
