Allysan Dogonski Age 68, of Canton, passed away October 14, 2016. She was born on July 14, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan; daughter of Sol and Susan (nee Perkins) Baltimore. She graduated from Henry Ford High School, Class of 1966. She was united in marriage to Thomas P. Dogonski on January 27, 1968; devoted to each other for over 47 years. In her mid-30’s Allysan returned to school for her nursing degree which she received from Henry Ford Community College. She began her career at Oakwood Hospital downriver and later she worked at DMC in the infertility department; Allysan retired in 2000. Allysan was a member of the National Organization for Women, an advocate for breast cancer awareness, and a believer in blood donations for the American Red Cross. She was an environmentalist; among some of the organizations she supported were the Sierra Club and the National Audubon Society. She devoted herself to helping birds, trees, and oceans. Among her favorite things were butterflies and hummingbirds. Allysan enjoyed gardening, crafting, and completing needlepoint projects. She was an avid collector of jewelry and antiques. Allysan also enjoyed going up north to Grand Island and Sand Lake and decorating the cabin in festive holiday décor with her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family; she was a tenacious, dedicated and compassionate wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. Allysan is survived by her husband Thomas; her sons, David (Stacey) Dogonski and Derek (Tanya) Dogonski; her father Sol Baltimore; her grandchildren, Makenna Dogonski, Ean Dogonski, Carrie Dogonski, and Samantha Martin; and her siblings, John Ayer, Brett (Cindy) Ayer, Chuck (Jennifer) Baltimore, and Jennifer (Chris) DiCicco. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, her brother Ray Ayer, and her infant sister Bethany Ayer. Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to the Michigan Community VNA Hospice, Greenpeace, or the National Wildlife Federation.
