Dorothy M. Stevenson

Dorothy M. Stevenson   Dorothy M. Stevenson, age 89, of Northville passed away on November 27, 2016 just one day shy of her 90th birthday.   She was born November 28, 1926 in Novi Township, Michigan; daughter of Jesse and Irene (nee McClelland) Boyd.  She graduated from New Hudson High School in New Hudson, Michigan; Class of 1944.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Al B. Stevenson; they were married for 33 years before his death in 1987.   Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker who held her home front together.  Later in life she worked in the office at the Northville Senior Center.  She was an active member of Memorial Church of Christ in Livonia for many years.  At church she was part of the Golden Agers and volunteered for many different things including working in the kitchen during events and helping with childcare.  Dorothy enjoyed the trips she took around the United States with the Livonia Travel Club.  She also enjoyed cross stitching and created beautiful pieces.  Dorothy did a wonderful job as a caretaker for her mother; she was very diligent in the care she gave.  Known to many as “Grandma Dorothy, “she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.    Dorothy is survived by her children, Michael (Dianne) Stevenson, Helen (Gary) Tryzbiak, Jesse (Pam) Stevenson, and Ronald (Kristy) Stevenson; her grandchildren, Jesse (Darcy) Stevenson, Robert (Janet) Stevenson, Anna (Scott) O’Rourke, Jonathan (Christina) Tryzbiak, Charles (Alejandra) Stevenson, Lindsey (Gene) Olsen, Angela (Steve) Bultema, and Megan Stevenson and 13 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Helen Reading.   Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon with a Memorial Service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  Mark McGilvrey from Memorial Church of Christ in Livonia will officiate the service.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.                 In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Memorial Church of Christ, 35475 5 Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48154.
