Marilyn Catherine Prim

July 21, 1930 — December 25, 2016

Marilyn Catherine Prim Age 86, of Kansas, passed away December 25, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born on July 21, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri; daughter of George T. and Della (nee Speh) Pohrer. Marilyn attended Washington University of Fine Arts for a short time after catholic high school but decided she needed to see more of the world. She joined Delta Airlines to become a flight attendant and was based in Chicago. It was there that she met Rodney Prim, a young man in the Army reserve who lived just down the hall from her. Marilyn was married to Rodney R. Prim on September 15, 1956; they were devoted to each other for over 58 years until his death on November 22, 2014. Shortly after she married, Marilyn became a full time mom. She took her job seriously and was extremely devoted to her family. She always had a well-kept home, was an awesome listener and friend, and a great cook. Some of her best dishes were Swedish meatballs, beef stroganoff, spaghetti, lasagne and apple pie! Marilyn was very artistic, enjoyed painting and was also a great seamstress. She sewed many outfits for her children and made most all of the window treatments which gave her home a unique touch. After Rodney retried, Marilyn and her husband enjoyed the good life living as “snow birds” between Alpena, Michigan; Poinciana, Florida and later Olathe, Kansas. They enjoyed cruises and visited places such as Spain, Germany, Australia and Alaska. They loved dancing, going to the movies, and visiting with friends. Later in life, Marilyn took up golf so she could play with Rodney and she became quite good, placing in several tournaments and even beating Rodney a few times! Marilyn is survived by her children, Diana (Lance) Darby, Christopher (Jill) Prim; and David Prim; and her grandchildren, Alexa, Jessica and Harrison Prim, and Sarah and Jonathan Darby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Susan Prim and her brother Robert Pohrer.  Marilyn was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who will be missed by all. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Rural Hill Cemetery, 100 Rural Hill Street, Northville, Michigan 48167.  Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Salvation Army, 16130 Northland Drive, Southfield, Michigan 48075.
