Wallace John Bouffard

June 4, 1924 — January 28, 2017

Wallace J. Bouffard   Age 92 of Northville, previously of Garden City, passed away on January 28, 2017.  He was born June 4, 1924 in Oberlin, Ohio; son of Adrian and Mildred (nee Marrone) Bouffard. He was united in marriage to Anna Maria Christoph in July of 1947; celebrating over 63 years of devotion to each other until her death in 2010.    Wallace proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II. While on active duty he flew 26 combat missions on the plane he and his crew named “The Bad Penny.” He continued his service to his country by serving in the Air Force Reserves; he retired as a Major in 1984. He was a member of 397th Bomb Group, also known as the "Bridge Busters"; he held a vital role restoring a B-26 Bomber. Wallace was  also a member of the Reserves Officers Association.   Wallace enjoyed watching harness racing and liked collecting stamps and coins.  He loved watching baseball with his wife Anna. One of his first jobs was selling peanuts with his father at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. Wallace was a wonderful writer who used his talent to advocate his strong political views with numerous letters to politicians. He also enjoyed writing poetry. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.   He is survived by his children, Karen (Dave) Plester, Joni (Alan) Lumetta, John Bouffard, Mike Bouffard, and Denise (Wallace) Manier; his son-in-law Joseph Tallman; his sister Arline Kessler; his brother Patrick Bouffard; his grandchildren, Ben Lumetta, Jason (Paula) Lumetta, Holly Hagey, David Bouffard, Debra Shen, Amanda Ray, Selina Bouffard, Bianca Bouffard, Michael Bouffard Jr., Eric Manier, Steven Manier, AnneMarie Manier, and Christopher Tallman; and his great grandchildren, Anthony, Isabella, Hunter, Noah, Alexis, Eli, Vivi, Vera, Eric, Seth, and Brayson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Carol Tallman, his grandsons Mike Plester and John Marshall, his sister Joan Holden, and his brother Adrian Bouffard.   Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 10am until Noon with a funeral service beginning at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. He will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia and will receive military honors for his dedication to his country. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan, 27240 Haggerty Road, Suite E-15, Farmington Hills, MI 48331 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 25200 Telegraph Road, Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033.
