Nancy L. Barkoot Lanzetta

January 21, 1939 — February 7, 2017

Nancy Lee Barkoot Lanzetta, age 78, of Northville, formerly of Redford, passed away suddenly on February 7, 2017.  She was born January 21, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Melford and Mary Helen (nee  Corbett) Boyd.     Nancy was married to John Paterson in 1959, and they were together for 10 years. They were lucky to have the opportunity to live in Germany and California.  Upon returning, she completed her Bachelor's Degree in 1963 at the University  of Michigan, and then began her teaching career in Detroit.     She  was united in marriage to Michael Barkoot on October 2, 1970; they were married for 25 years until his death on July 14, 1995. During this time, she put her career on hold while she raised her family, eventually  returning to teaching, and later proctoring exams for Sylvan Learning Center.     Nancy  moved to Northville in 1996 and was a devoted member of St. Paul  Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the choir, Women in Christ, and other outreach programs. On May 8th, 1999, she was blessed to marry John Lanzetta; sadly he passed away  after 2 years of marriage on January 20, 2001. Later, she felt very blessed to find companionship with her fiancé Robert Ketterer until his passing in 2011.      She was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Michigan Questers, U of M Alumni Association, and St. Andrew's Society. Nancy loved  music and was a talented pianist. In her younger years, she liked to  draw, sketch, and paint. During college, she wrote a play that was performed, and received a standing ovation with yells of "Author, author!". Her love of the arts continued with involvement in community theatre. Nancy was very  generous and constantly volunteered to help others in need. She was  fun-loving, patient and thoughtful. The most important part of Nancy's  life was her family; she was always the biggest supporter of her children's and grandchildren's activities, and made sure everyone was together to celebrate holidays and birthdays.     Nancy is survived by her children, Linda (Jason) Roberts, James (Kristen) Barkoot, and Michele (Randy Eberhart) Barkoot; and her  grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) MacKay, Zachary MacKay, Jennifer  Roberts, James Roberts, Joshua Barkoot, Sophia Barkoot, Andrew Barkoot, and Jack Eberhart. She was preceded in death by her parents Melford and Helen Boyd, her husband Michael Barkoot, her husband John Lanzetta, her fiancé  Robert Ketterer, and her daughter Denise MacKay.     The visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 3:00 p.m.  until 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran  Church, 201 Elm Street, Northville, MI 48167.  Pastor Christopher  Fairbairn will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family  would appreciate memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church Music Fund.
