Frances I. Ondrus Frances I. Ondrus, age 92, of Northville, formerly of Parma, Ohio, passed away March 2, 2017. She was born May 28, 1924 in Brooksvale, Pennsylvania; daughter Mariano and Carmella (nee Corrado) Bello. She graduated from Dunbar Township High School in Pennsylvania; Class of 1942. Frances met Daniel J. Ondrus while working as a USO girl greeting the troops; they were united in marriage on July 7, 1951 and spent 56 loving years together until his death in 2007. Frances worked as a hair dresser for many years; she also worked as a sales person at her husband’s jewelry store. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the American Legion Post 147 in Northville. Frances was active with the Northville Senior Center where she played cards in the 500 Rummy Group. She enjoyed shopping for bargains, which often included garage sales. She was a talented seamstress and made her own clothing. Frances liked to entertain and was a wonderful hostess; she also liked to get dressed up to go out. She was an avid baseball fan and rooted for either the Tigers or the Indians. Frances is survived by her loving son, Daniel (Lisa) Ondrus; her grandson D.J. Ondrus; and her sister Gloria Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sisters Jennie Hanlon and Felicia Nelson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Visitation will also be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Zabor Funeral Home, 5680 Pearl Road, Parma, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to American Legion Post 147, 100 Dunlap Street, Northville, MI 48167 would be appreciated.
