Jon Henri White

Jon Henri White   Jon Henri White, age 77, of Tecumseh, formerly a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on April 11, 2017. He was born October 15, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan; son of William and Bernice (nee Kane) White. Jon attended Cooley High School in Detroit. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Private First Class. Jon married Margaret Sabo on May 15, 1959; they spent 57 loving years together.        Jon retired as a Plant Manager from Massey Ferguson after working for the company for many years. Following his retirement he obtained his builders license and built several homes. Jon was a life member of the Masonic Lodge.    Jon was an accomplished wood carver; his carvings were often large pieces and varied from statues of people, animals, angels, and even an entire nativity scene. He was commissioned by Shield’s Pizza in Detroit for a carving of Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket which sits in a glass case on the bar. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting squirrels with his boys. He also enjoyed travelling; Maine was one of his favorite places to visit. Jon had a fondness for cars, especially German luxury cars. In recent years he took up several instruments, including the ukulele and mandolin. Jon had a wonderful sense of humor; he was always telling jokes and had funny nicknames for everyone and everything. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.       Jon is survived by his loving wife Margaret White; his sons Jon White, Richard White, and Scott (Cheryl) White; his brothers David (Monique) White and Daniel (Laura) White; his grandchildren Damien (Christina) White, Jesse White, Jacob (Julia) White, Maggie-Mae White, Austin White, Gavin White, Orion White, Fisher White, Eden White, and Lear White; and great grandchildren Madison, Dakota, and Dominic. He was preceded in death by his son David White, his parents, his sister Gloria Leach, and his brother Ronald White.    Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Pastor Kurt Hutchens from Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney will officiate the service.
