David R. Jarrett

June 3, 1938 — April 30, 2017

David “Dick” Jarrett   Age 78 of Northville, passed away on April 30, 2017.  He was born June 3, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan; son of David F. and Edith C. (nee Anderson) Jarrett. In 1956 he graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit. Dick continued his education at University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He later received his Master of Science in Automotive Engineering from the Chrysler Institute. Dick was an engineer with Chrysler for 38 years, retiring in 1999. He was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Davidson on July 21, 2007; spending over 9 years devoted to each other.   Dick was a big U of M football fan. He enjoyed trips to his cottage on Mullet Lake and spending time working on his yard. He liked planting trees and relocating rocks. Dick also enjoyed rebuilding furniture and woodworking; he believed using the instructions to build something was cheating. Dick was a hard worker, strong and very dependable. He was a kindhearted and proud husband, father, grandfather, and friend.   He is survived by his wife Marilyn; his children, Steven (Monica) Jarrett and Christy (Aaron) Brooks; his stepchildren, Bill (Tracy) Cook, Cathy (Tom) Colville and Chuck (Tricia) Cook; and his grandchildren, Samantha Jarrett, Madison Jarrett, Aiden Brooks, Kinsley Brooks, Marshall Brooks, Lindsey (Kyle) Reinford, Ryan Cook, Collin (Carrie) Cook, Kyle Cook, Alex Cook, Connor Cook, and Sara Colville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Phyllis A. Jarrett, his sister Edith Stoscup and his grandson Andrew Colville.   Private services will be held. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Road, Suite100, Southfield, MI  48033.
