Charles J. Jones, age 92, of Northville, formerly a longtime resident of New Port Richey, Florida and Dearborn, Michigan, passed away on May 5, 2017. He was born August 28, 1924 in Dearborn, Michigan; son of Charles Vincent and Jessie (nee Nolais) Jones. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in England. While in the Army, Charlie worked on the glider planes that went into Normandy. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Taylor on October 25, 1946; they spent 57 years devoted to each other until her death in 2004. Charlie was a Millwright with Ford Motor Company for over 25 years; he retired in 1986. He was an avid golfer and loved to play cards with friends. Charlie was very social and active in his Florida community. He enjoyed travelling; his favorite vacations were Hawaii and Mexico where he explored the silver mines. He also enjoyed watching hockey and baseball. Charlie was very loving, thoughtful and welcoming. He is survived by his son Charles B. Jones, his granddaughters Meghan (William) Irving and Lindsey Jones; and his great grandchildren, Owen, Sophia, and Mason Irving. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister Barbara Lofquist, and his daughter-in-law Kathleen Jones. Private services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly where full military honors will be rendered.
