Shawn D. O’Neill, age 54, longtime resident of Novi, passed away on May 19, 2017. He was born January 18, 1963 in Livonia, Michigan; son of Donald J. and Marie L. (nee Michael) O’Neill. Shawn graduated from Redford Union High School; Class of 1981. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 37 years, most recently with International Industrial Contracting Corporation. Shawn enjoyed taking care of his property and animals, which included ducks, chicken, pigs, and goats. He was a hard worker and was known as a “Master Tinkerer.” He liked building and constructed a pole barn and chicken coop on his property. Shawn was a true outdoorsman; he was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed cars, trucks, and riding ATVs. A war buff; he was fascinated with the Titanic and all types of war memorabilia. He also loved to barbeque and enjoyed cooking. Shawn was a very supportive and proud father. His contagious smile and fun loving nature will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Shawn is survived by his daughter Kylie D. O’Neill; his siblings, Terry O’Neill, Peggy (Ted) Clarke, Kevin (Laraine) O’Neill, Jill (Terry) Crawley, and Erin (Kurt) Kostigian. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Elaine O’Neill. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 17 at 6:00pm at Faith Community Presbyterian Church, 44400 West Ten Mile Road, Novi, MI 48375.
