Norbert E. Murphy, age 95 of Northville, passed away on June 8, 2017. He was born April 22, 1922 in Bakerton, Pennsylvania; son of Eugene F. and Mary Ann (nee Sponsky) Murphy. Private First Class Norbert E. Murphy received a Purple Heart Medal, for his dedicated service in the United States Army during World War II. Upon returning from the war he married the love of his life Bernice Stefanik on June 28, 1947; celebrating almost 70 years of devotion to each other. They made a home together in Dearborn Heights from 1957 until 2003. Norbert began his career as a claims adjuster with Chrysler and continued his career with Ford Motor Company. He retired in 1986 at the age of 64. Norbert had a very outgoing and easy-going personality. He loved being with people; always entertaining family and friends. He was a very generous and caring husband and father. If his family was in need he was there to help. He enjoyed golfing and walking; hobbies he liked because they involved socializing with others. Norbert is survived by his wife Bernice; his children, Norman Murphy and Noreen (Jeff Metz) Murphy; his sisters, Norma Murphy, Marlene Hennessey, and Virginia McCann; and his grandchildren, Ryan Murphy and Emily Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Eugene Murphy, Jr., Bernard Murphy and John Murphy, and his sister Camilla Tozzini. Norbert will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
