Joseph Brian Evans, age 76, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on July 19, 2017. He was born September 2, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Robert A. and Winifred (nee Near) Evans. Brian graduated from Roseville High School in 1958. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served active duty for 3 years and in the reserves for 3 years; proudly fulfilling his duty in 1964. Brian was united in marriage to Madelaine J. Chappie on July 13, 1973; celebrating 44 years of devotion to each other. Brian was an Electrician with General Motors for 23 years; he retired in 2007. Brian had a great laugh. Anyone who knew him or met him commented on his laugh. Brian enjoyed life. He liked eating out and enjoyed Taco Tuesday at the Sports Den with friends, and opening nights at the Tipping Point Theater. He and his wife Maggie worked the Township elections as precinct inspectors for many years. Brian and Maggie shared a passion for dogs. He was often found walking his dog Michael, a silky terrier, and visiting with neighbors. He was a member of the Motor City Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club. Brian enjoyed golfing, bowling and snowmobiling. He liked going to his cottage to spend time with friends relaxing and occasionally fishing. Brian was an experienced traveler; for the last 11 years he and his wife enjoyed cruising with relatives, and friends Judy and Ken. Their most memorable cruises were to Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. He is survived by his loving wife Maggie; his brothers, Raymond Evans, Claude (the late Mary Ann) Evans, Ronadl (Chris) Evans, Keith (Nancy) Evans, and Rick (Nancy) Evans; and his sister Gail (Bill) Triplett. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and his rescue dog Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A Mass will be held Friday, July 28 at 11am, instate at 10:30am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville. Father Denis Theroux will officiate the service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or the Michigan Humane Society.
