Beatrice Jean Whitney

Beatrice Jean Whitney, age 61, of Pleasant Lake passed away August 7, 2017. She was born July 5, 1956 in Jackson, Michigan; daughter of Neil David and Eva Jean (Carpenter) Johnson. Beaty, as known by her many friends, graduated from Leslie High School, class of 1974. She was united in marriage to Scott A. Whitney on December 21, 1975; devoted to each other and their family for 42 years. Beaty was the owner of Ms. Beaty’s Furniture, a furniture restoration company she owned and operated for 10 years. She had a gift for taking old weathered furniture and turning it into creative pieces that her clients loved. She was a spectacular cook and was known for her beef and noodles. Beaty enjoyed both vegetable and floral gardening. She was very outgoing and easily made friends because of her personality. Beaty was a fun, caring, and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband Scott; her children, Levi (Kelly Fae) Whitney, Kelly (Whitney) Whitney, Sarah Lindsey, and Alex (Siera) Whitney; her sister Michael (Steve) Weaver; her brother David (Gina) Johnson; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Sophia, Drew, Dustin, Travis, Roger, Jacob, Alex Jr., and Haley; and her dog Bonny. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Claudia Miller, and her brother Ralph “Rip” Johnson. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the American Legion Post 491, 422 Woodworth Street, Leslie, MI 48251. Pastor Tripp will officiate the service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
