Virginia K. “Jeanne” Thompson, age 93, of Northville, passed away peacefully December 2, 2017. She was born September 7, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Vance and Bonnie (nee Shanks) Hartley. Jeanne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Preston Bradley Thompson on February 14, 1947; they spent 68 loving years together as husband and wife until his death on August 2, 2015. Jeanne graduated from Eastland High School in Roseville. Jeanne and her husband Brad lived in Farmington Hills where they raised their family. Following her husband’s retirement they moved to Knoxville, TN where they lived for 30 years before moving back to Michigan, settling in Northville for 9 years. Jeanne’s life was all about her family; she was a devoted homemaker who raised 6 children and was inseparable from her husband. She enjoyed the work she did from home as a seamstress, sewing and tailoring clothes. She was very creative and artsy; she did beautiful oil paintings of landscapes. Jeanne had a green thumb, a gift she used to grow indoor plants, her favorite being orchids. She was a wonderful cook; she always made sure her family was well taken care of and enjoyed entertaining. She enjoyed travelling and being at the beach, especially Lake Michigan. Jeanne truly loved her family; she especially adored having her grandchildren around and taking care of them. Jeanne is survived by her loving children, Brad (Karen) Thompson, Jr., Sandy (Brad) Drake, Kathleen Thompson, Michelle (John) Kiely, and Kim Thompson; her daughter-in-law, Barb Thompson; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Brad, her son Dave Thompson, her parents Vance and Bonnie Hartley, and her brothers Bill Hartley and Sonny Hartley. Private family services will be held.
