Helen Fern Elwell

Helen F. Elwell, age 68, of Livonia, passed away suddenly on January 6, 2018. She was born June 20, 1949 in Hinton, West Virginia; daughter of John and Lessie (nee Cook) McClung. Helen was united in marriage to Charles W. Elwell, Jr. on March 12, 1971; devoted to each other for over 43 years until his death on April 18, 2014.   Helen worked in the automotive industry for most of her life. She retired in October 2017 from Avis Budget Truck Rental after a 13 year career as a clerk. In the early 2000’s she also worked at Northville Downs alongside her husband. Helen loved to dance; her favorite style of dance was line dancing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she was feisty. Helen enjoyed golfing, bowling, and taking care of her garden. She also liked to go shopping with family and friends. Helen was a very loving and caring mother; she truly adored her son.   She is survived by her son William “Billy” (Candice) Elwell; and her sisters Phyllis (Robert) Honaker and Patty (Richard) Ferber. Helen had an incredible spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.   A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5pm until 8pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.
