Jeanette M. Pappas, age 93, a longtime resident of Northville, peacfully passed away February 14, 2018 with family by her side. She was born August 25, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of George and Antoinette (Reskowski) Brudna. Jeanette was united in marriage to Albert Pappas on December 13, 1986; they were married for 21 loving years until his death on August 25, 2007. Jeanette attended Fordson High School in Dearborn before leaving school to take care of her mother who was diagnosed with MS; helping to raise her siblings. She was an incredibly dedicated homemaker; meticulously caring for her home and family. Jeanette also worked outside of the home. During the war, she went to work in a factory to help support her family. Additionally, she took great pride in the modeling she did for various ads and magazines, including Hudson's. Jeanette was blessed with a green thumb; she loved flowers and everything flourished for her. She tenderly cared for all of her plants; indoors and outdoors. She was very crafty and liked to beautify ordinary things. A trendsetter, Jeanette’s hair, nails, and make-up were always done and she was always very well accessorized. She was a wonderful cook. Her spaghetti sauce was a family favorite. She would often share it with family and friends. Jeanette loved sweets and enjoyed baking cookies, especially Christmas cookies. Her love of baking cookies has been passed down as a special family tradition carried on to this day. She also enjoyed listening to music; especially big band and Frank Sinatra. Jeanette was devoted to her family and they always came first. She truly adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren; spoiling them with sweets every opportunity she had. She is survived by her children, Carol (Ted) Nowak and Sandy Gardynik; her grandchildren, Shannon (Keith) Lee, Robyn (John Petosky) Wehab, and Heather (Brian) Mauch; her great grandchildren, Christian, Ryan, Alyson, Madyson, and Brennan. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years Matthew Gardynik, her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., in state beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
