Dorne A. Dibble Dorne A. Dibble, age 88, of Northville, formerly of Dearborn and Troy, passed away on March 1, 2018. He was born April 16, 1929 in Adrian, Michigan; son of Donald and Norma (nee Gorham) Dibble. Dorne was united in marriage to Kristin Karg Ericson; they were devoted to one another for 30 years. Dorne graduated from Adrian High School; Class of 1947. He continued his education at Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Education. While at Michigan State he was named All-American for his impressive senior season with the football team. He was drafted to the Detroit Lions in 1951. Following his rookie year; he proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1953, he rejoined the Lions and went on to win two NFL World Championship titles with the team. After his impressive football career ended, he started Dorne Dibble and Associates, a manufacturer’s rep for the automotive industry. Dorne was inducted into the Gridiron Greats in 2011 and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2014, as well as Legends of the Game. He was a former member of Red Run Golf Club. His greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends. Dorne is survived by his beloved wife, Kristin Karg Ericson Dibble; his daughters, Lori (David) Anderson and Kimberly Knapp; his step-daughters, Jennifer (Stephen) Beach and Melissa (Thomas) Holland; his siblings, Dee (Christine) Dibble and Lyn Dibble; his grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Evans, Kristin (Eve Sandoval) Nancarrow, Ryan (Cassy) Anderson, and Scott (Stephanie Schmidt) Anderson; and his great grandchildren, Jocelyn, MacKenzie, and Henrik. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty Donahue Dibble, his son, Dorne Dibble, Jr. in April 2017, his brother Lee Dibble and his parents. The visitation will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
