Irene Swiech Irene Swiech, age 92, longtime resident of Dearborn Heights, passed away on March 24, 2018. She was born July 14, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Walter and Mary (nee Bukowy) Bartoszek. She graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit; Class of 1943. Irene was united in marriage to Edward B. Swiech on April 15, 1950; they spent 46 loving years together until his death on September 3, 1996. During WWII, Irene contributed to the war effort at home by processing War Bonds at Fort Wayne in Detroit. Later she worked for over 20 years at her husband’s company, E.B. Sweich Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Dearborn Heights doing quotes, bookkeeping, and invoices. The job she was most devoted to was that of homemaker. Irene’s biggest priority was her children and family; she took wonderful care of them. Irene was a member of The Henry Ford; she loved taking her children to Greenfield Village, it was an outing they went on each Mother’s Day. She was also a member of Divine Child in Dearborn. Irene made beautiful quilts that she often gifted to members of her family; she even completed a special quilt for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening; her yard was filled with stunning flowers of all types. Irene was a tremendous cook, her traditional Polish dishes including Pierogi and Golabki were family favorites. Irene truly loved her children and grandchildren; she cherished the time they spent together. Irene is survived by her loving children, Randy (Barb) Swiech, Pam (Richard) Blott, and Laurie (John) Ireland; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Lillian Wiktor. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Stanley Bartoszek, John Bartoszek, and Chester Bartoszek. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Pastor Rafael Halliburton from Harvest Bible Church in Westland, MI will officiate the service. Mrs. Swiech will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
