Ronald G. Bunnell, age 81, longtime resident of Belleville passed away April 6, 2018. He was born September 22, 1936 in Dearborn, Michigan; son of Garnett A. and Stella E. (nee Szucs) Bunnell. Ronald graduated from Romulus High School; Class of 1954. He continued his education at University of Michigan where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1959. Ronald worked as an engineer at Ford Motor Company for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Belleville Water Ski Club, Ford Thunderbird Ski Club, and the Ann Arbor Bicycle Club. He enjoyed music and attending the Ann Arbor Music Festival and Ann Arbor Art Fair. Most of Ronald’s travels revolved around either bicycling or skiing, both of which he was very passionate about. For the past 12 years, Ronald had spent time skiing in Breckenridge, Colorado. Prior to purchasing a home on Main Street in Breckenridge, Ronald skied all over the United States and Europe. He logged many miles on his bicycle; Ronald took cycling tours through Europe with friends, extensively bicycled through the Southwest United States and Florida, and each year biked in Kentucky for the 4th of July. Ronald is survived by his siblings, Janet (Gary) Haas, Robert (Ellen) Bunnell, and Carol Ilvonen; his nieces and nephews, Kevin (Dana) Haas, Andrew (Daniel James) Haas, Steven (Valerie) Bunnell, David (Lili) Bunnell, Rebecca (Michael) Bruin, and Laurel Ilvonen; and 6 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Bryce Ilvonen. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Rev. Douglas Vernon from First United Methodist Church in Northville will officiate the service.
