Eleanor P. Mastantuono

April 17, 1927 — April 24, 2018

Eleanor P. Mastantuono, age 91, of Novi, passed away April 24, 2018. She was born on April 17, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Michele and Maria (nee Leone) Colasante. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Detroit; Class of 1945.  Eleanor was united in marriage to Armando Mastantuono in 1945; they spent 34 loving years together until his death in 1979. Eleanor worked as an Order Entry Clerk with Great Lakes Steel for 30 years and was a member of the retiree club.  Her favorite hobby was playing bingo, she played every Tuesday.  Eleanor also enjoyed reading daily and playing pinochle.  Lovingly referred to as Nonnie by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending time with her family was the highlight of her life.  Eleanor was a loving, thoughtful and giving mother, nonnie, and friend.  Eleanor is survived by her loving children, Linda VanPoperin, Sam (Kathy) Mastantuono, and Rachael (Jim) Esbrook; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Remo Colasante and her sister Ida Stanglewicz. The visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  The funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., instate beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville.  A graveside service will be held Friday, May 4, 20158 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 17100 Van Dyke, Detroit, MI 48234.  The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Rd., Livonia, MI 48154.
