Linda Elizabeth Gatrell

Linda E. Gatrell, age 69, formerly of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away on May 6, 2018 in Terre Haute, Indiana.  She was born November 18, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Edward and Mary Frances (nee Holder) Monarch.  She graduated from Redford High School; Class of 1966. Linda was united in marriage to James C. Gatrell on July 10, 1968; they spent 49 loving years together. Linda worked as a beautician for more than 20 years, but her most rewarding efforts were that of “super cool mom" followed closely by that of a caring sister and wife.  She was devoted to her entire extended family, they were the most important thing in her life. She loved taking care of them and cherished the time they spent together during the holidays, Up North, on memorable vacations, and at the lake. Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Gatrell; her sons, Tony (Nancy) Gatrell, Jon (Emily) Gatrell, and Jay Gatrell; her siblings, Greg (Robin) Monarch, Butch (Helen) Monarch, Kay Caputo, Jane (Ed) Weberman, and Guy (Nancy) Monarch; and her grandchildren, Brody, Brooks, Blaise, Kevren, Dijouri, Prescott, Hadrian, Forrest, Mary, and Ezra. She was also loved by scores of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Danny Gatrell, and her parents.  The visitation will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  Mrs. Gatrell will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.  The family would appreciate memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Eastern Illinois University Foundation – Jim and Linda Gatrell Textbook Scholarship Fund; please write Gatrell Textbook Scholarship on the memo of the donation.  https://www.eiu.edu/found/
