Carol J. Bollin

Carol J. Bollin, age 94, of Farmington Hills, formerly of Livonia and Northville, passed away May 27, 2018. She was born on July 31, 1923 in Cloquet, Minnesota; daughter of Trygve and Eveline (nee Johnson) Heino.  She graduated from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Washington; Class of 1940.   Carol was united in marriage to William H. Bollin on October 13, 1945; they spent 61 loving years together until his death on September 20, 2007.  Carol was a devoted homemaker; she took wonderful care of her family, whom she truly loved.  She was member of P.E.O. Chapter DZ, where she was Past President of her local chapter.  She was also a member and host family for American Field Service, as well as served on the Board of Directors for Livonia Town Hall.  Carol enjoyed bowling and playing board games, especially Scrabble.  She liked to keep her mind sharp and alert by doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, as well as watching politics.  She visited many places in the world; including Europe, Hawaii, the Scandinavian countries, and Alaska.  One of Carol’s favorite places to be was at her cottage in Harrisville, where she cherished the time she spent with her family.  Carol is survived by her loving children, William (Sharon) Bollin, Sherrill (Larry) Rigley, Kenneth (Barbara) Bollin, Janette Guenther, Timothy (Ann) Bollin, Christopher Bollin, and Per (Elisabeth) Sandberg; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her granddaughter, Leah Bollin; her daughter-in-law, Kimberley Bollin; her parents; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.  The visitation will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  Father John Rocus from Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Brighton will officiate the service.  She will be laid to rest with her husband at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.  The family would appreciate memorial contributions to P.E.O.
