Ila M. Aldrich, age 92, a longtime resident of Farmington, passed away peacefully June 19, 2018. She was born in Rose Center, Michigan, daughter of John Winters and Iva (nee Cross) Winters, the youngest of four children. Ila graduated from Holly High School, Class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Harold Aldrich and they were devoted to each other until his death in 1995.
As a youth, Ila was an award-winning speller, won many awards in 4-H competitions and was once crowned Rose Queen for the Rose Center festival.
Ila was a creative and dedicated homemaker who loved baking, gardening, sewing and family gatherings. She decorated the house for every holiday on the calendar. She was active in PTA at her children's schools and worked several years in Food Service for Farmington Public Schools. After her children were grown, she worked as a Clerk for the Farmington Hills Building Department.
Ila is survived by her children: Connie (Al) Qualman, Gale (Tom) Stoner, Howard E. Aldrich, Joseph Harold Aldrich (d. 1958), and Keri (Barry) Blake; cherished grandchildren Jeremy (Abbie) Stoner, Rebekah Stoner, Holly Qualman, Heather (Ryan McCourt) Qualman, Maggie Blake, Adeline (Bowen) Humm, Joseph Blake, and Maeve Blake; adored great-grandchildren Dylynn, August, Clara, Atlas and Brandan; and many extended relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:30am at the First United Methodist Church, 777 West Eight Mile Road, Northville. A luncheon will follow in fellowship hall.
